Academy Museum of Motion Pictures

Position: Assistant Registrar, Permanent Collection (This position has been filled)

The Assistant Registrar, Permanent Collections will report to the Associate Registrar, Permanent Collections. This position will focus on the proper documentation and physical care of the Museum’s permanent collection material. Some primary responsibilities will include assisting with processing of new acquisitions and maintaining the permanent collection by assigning accession numbers, physical numbering, documentary photography, and condition reporting. The ideal candidate must be highly organized, efficient, able to multi-task, and possess excellent attention to detail.

Armory Center for the Arts

Position: Public Programs Associate (This position has been filled)

The Public Programs Associate is responsible for researching, planning, and implementing exhibition-related programs that will inspire curiosity, draw new audiences, and encourage engagement. They will gain experience in programming, audience development, evaluation, and collaboration and will work closely with Armory Exhibitions, Communications and Marketing and Off-Site Community Programs staff. Responsibilities will include but not limited to conducting research, developing community partnerships, generating event description copy and event images, developing regular reports and analysis following events to research and provide insight on audience metrics.

Autry Museum of the American West

Position: Repatriation Assistant (This position has been filled)

Under the supervision and direction of the Associate Curator of Anthropology and Repatriation Supervisor, the Repatriation Assistant will gain a strong understanding of the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA) and how it is applied within a museum. The Repatriation Assistant will assist in preparing for repatriation consultation visits and other related activities, such as collections inventories, data entry, database searches and reports using the MIMSY collections database, and handling and working around collection items. The Repatriation Assistant will assist in the completion of various tasks needed to meet the goals of the Native Collections and Engagement Department. The Repatriation Assistant should have a Bachelor’s degree or higher in related field, i.e., American Indian Studies, Museum Studies, History, Anthropology, or Information Studies. He/She/They should have a basic understanding of historic and contemporary issues for Native American communities and/or issues in museum collections and/or community research practices and methodologies.

Benton Museum of Art at Pomona College

Position: Curatorial Assistant (This position has been filled)

Working with the Senior Curator and Director, the Curatorial Assistant will assist in conceptualizing, organizing, and managing exhibitions and installations of varying scale, including presentations of Viceregal Latin American art, early modern European prints and drawings, and exhibitions treating the work of Fred Eversley, Christina Fernandez, June Harwood, Wardell Milan, and Kameelah Janan Rasheed. The curatorial assistant will gain familiarity with a broad range of curatorial practice, including research; writing of catalogue and didactic materials; managing exhibition checklists and image files; coordinating loans and installation plans; developing and monitoring budgets; and presenting public talks. The curatorial assistant will participate in the ongoing effort to build and interpret the College’s permanent collection including writing acquisition reports. Additionally, to support the museum’s focus on emerging and under-recognized artists, they will keep abreast of the contemporary art world by maintaining contacts with colleagues and developing knowledge of international, national, and local artists.

Getty Museum

Position: Assistant Digital Media Producer (This position has been filled)

Reporting to the Assistant Director for Education and Public Programs, this position will support the museum’s Education Department to create getty.edu as a destination for dynamic and relevant resources to inspire teachers from across the country to integrate the visual arts into their curriculum. They will be responsible for supporting the expansion of virtual programming and digital resources for K-12 school communities by developing new online content for teachers and students in collaboration with education staff. The position will be integrated into all relevant project and department meetings and receive additional supervision by department staff in school and teacher audiences, plus mentoring by the Head of Education and an external mentor. Additionally, they will have opportunities to collaborate and learn with leaders in the museum education field and apply skills to independent digital project development and programming and training in all administrative support systems: budget tracking, purchase order development, contracts, and expenditure reconciliation. This position will have access to related project (content and/or conferences) travel opportunities.

Getty Research Institute

Position: Assistant Registrar (This position has been filled)

Reporting to the Senior Registrar, the Assistant Registrar will support the Registrar's section with particular focus on incoming acquisitions and exhibition activities. The Assistant Registrar will receive training in handling a variety of objects and materials in Special Collections, mentoring by the Senior Registrar as well as an external mentor. This position will work in partnership with a team of registrars and interact with GRI curators, exhibition coordinators, and conservators on relevant projects. Tasks include coordinating and receiving shipments, creating object records and tracking collection objects in TMS, and other duties related to exhibitions and special collections management. Additionally, there will be opportunities to attend workshops and/or conferences.

Hammer Museum

Position: Assistant Educator (This position has been filled)

The Assistant Educator will work as part of the Hammer's Academic Programs team to help visitors of all ages make authentic and personally relevant connections to art, one another, and the world through close looking, dialogue, and inquiry. They will train as a gallery educator and lead tours for audiences of all ages; support educational programming for family, teen, K-12 teachers and students, and university audiences; and assist with departmental administrative projects. With guidance from Academic Programs staff, they will also propose, develop, and implement new programming for family and/or university audiences. Alongside these responsibilities, the Assistant Educator will build their professional skill set, gain skills and strategies for navigating museum career pathways, and grow their understanding of museum education theory and practice through ongoing mentorship and professional development.

The Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA)

Position: Programming Assistant (This position has been filled)

The Programming Assistant works as a member of MOCA’s Curatorial Department in support of all content, administrative, and logistical aspects of programming at the museum, including virtual programs. Reporting to the Associate Curator of Performance & Programs, this position works closely with the Programming Coordinator to develop and implement public and performance programs for visitors of all ages and experience levels. The position will collaborate across departments to facilitate programming including arranging A/V, coordinating marketing, and working with frontline teams to ensure accessible and seamless events. Externally, this position will engage artists, performers, scholars, and other practitioners to plan and execute programs, and work with MOCA’s neighbors on community outreach and coordinated programming.

ONE Archives at the USC Libraries

Position: Curatorial Assistant (This position has been filled)

The ONE Archives at the USC Libraries seeks a Curatorial Assistant to help in researching, planning, and producing exhibitions and programs. This individual will act as a liaison with artists, scholars, and other museum staff involved in exhibition and program production. This person will provide general curatorial assistance in planning and organizing exhibitions, including scholarly research and logistical support in the preparation of checklists, loan requests, rights and permissions, transcriptions, exhibition catalogues, interpretive materials, related public programs, and other exhibition-related materials. The Curatorial Assistant will also be tasked with developing their own exhibition and associated public programs by the end of their two-year term. This person must possess strong research skills, be well-organized and detail-oriented, be able to work independently and as part of a team, and communicate and collaborate well with others in the realization of complex projects.

Self Help Graphics & Art

Position: Education and Public Programs Coordinator (This position has been filled)

The Education and Public Programs Coordinator will support the broad suite of SHG public programs focusing on education (in-school and onsite workshops and partner-based programs), art initiatives and activations, and onsite programs related to exhibitions, anchor programs such as the iconic SHG Dia de Los Muertos season, Annual Print Fair, and biannual Printmaking Summit. This position is integral to SHG’s program success and will work with the Program team to implement public engagement and art education strategies, as well as participate in organization-wide strategy and long-term planning work with staff and board. The Coordinator works closely with the Director of Artistic Programs and Education, providing support across programs, scheduling speakers and artists, and administrative support such as submitting agreements for public programs and art workshops. The Coordinator also supports the documentation of programs and works closely with the communications consultant on digital content creation for program outreach purposes and social media content.

Skirball Cultural Center

Position: Exhibitions Coordinator (This position has been filled)

The Skirball seeks an enthusiastic team player to serve as Exhibitions Coordinator. Reporting directly to the Deputy Director, the Exhibitions Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and project managing a portion of four to nine temporary exhibitions the Skirball presents each year. Exhibitions range from art to history and culture focused—some explicitly Jewish in subject matter and others not—with a strong emphasis on offering welcoming experiences that foster human connections for a wide range of audiences. The Exhibitions Coordinator assists with exhibition development and works closely with the Deputy Director, curators, registrars, preparators, and administrative staff. They will also work cross-departmentally with education, public program, and operations teams. They will assist in the management of traveling exhibitions and act as primary liaison and courier, coordinating shipping and overseeing installation to ensure proper care and handling of objects.
