About
Goal
The Conservation of Rock Art project sought to increase the knowledge base of those responsible for the protection of rock art sites by offering short- and long-term courses on rock art conservation and rock art site protection and management, including on-site training.
Outcomes
- Courses on rock art conservation and rock art site protection and management, including on-site training
- A one-year graduate diploma course on the subject of rock art
- Graduates of the program subsequently participated in a month-long conservation project at the site of Painted Rock
Background
Beginning in the late 1980s, the Getty Conservation Institute offered short- and long-term courses on rock art conservation and rock art site protection and management, including on-site training for those responsible for the protection of rock art sites.
