The J. Paul Getty Trust announced today the appointment of Pierre Ouillet as executive vice president, finance and operations of the Getty Trust.

Mr. Ouillet is currently vice chancellor at UC San Diego and chief financial officer for both the University and Health Sciences, a position he has held since 2014. In that role, he is responsible for financial planning of a budget exceeding $9 billion, strategic initiatives, procurement, informational technology services, human resources, real estate, housing, dining, and hospitality services.

“We are thrilled to welcome Pierre Ouillet to the Getty team,” says Getty President and CEO Katherine E. Fleming. “Pierre’s visionary leadership and deep understanding of complex financial landscapes will be instrumental as we continue to elevate Getty’s role as a global leader in the arts and education.”

As EVP, Mr. Ouillet will oversee the Trust’s financial strategy, operations, and administrative functions, focusing on enhancing Getty’s financial sustainability, operational efficiency, and strategic growth. He will join Getty on November 11.

Mr. Ouillet replaces Steve Olsen, who recently retired this summer after six years as the Getty’s vice president, CFO, and COO.

“I am honored to join Getty, an institution renowned for its commitment to the arts and cultural heritage,” said Mr. Ouillet. “I visited and fell in love with the Villa on my first trip to California as a student. I have been back at the Center several times since, and I have always felt a strong connection with this incredible institution.”

Before UC San Diego, Mr. Ouillet served as Vice President of Finance, Resources, and Operations at the University of British Columbia (UBC), where he navigated the university through the global financial crisis by driving collaborative efforts that generated significant savings and new revenue streams. Previously, he served as vice president of finance for Best Buy International and Best Buy Canada.

Mr. Ouillet has a Master of Science degree from the University of Maryland, and a Master of Business Administration from INSEAD (European Institute of Business Administration). He is also a Certified General Accountant.
