Simon Devis is an artist born and raised in Los Angeles. His artwork and passions have changed over time, as growing up in a city filled with diverse cultures has influenced and motivated him to express himself through many different forms of art. Originally, darkroom photography grasped Simon’s curiosity. The power one has to manipulate and perfect a photo in the darkroom ignited his passion for capturing images. Simon has explored using both film and digital cameras, gathering with friends for photoshoots, creating sets, or simply going out on walks. The power he has behind the lens helps him navigate and tell stories about his friends, his family, and most of all himself. Simon’s photography practice eventually evolved into film-making as well, and in both media he has begun to explore surrealism and the abnormal. Although his art originally started with photos of friends goofing off, and simple landscapes, he now strives and is determined to create meaningful pieces that address the underbelly of what it's like to grow up in today’s day and age.
