Training

The GCI has been undertaking training activities on this subject since the early 2000s. Between 2005 and 2013 the GCI developed and delivered the scientific program and a number of training activities with the OWHC at their biannual symposia, aimed at conservation professionals and local government elected officials.

Five Mayor's Workshops were undertaken by the GCI each one addressing key conservation issues facing heritage officers and political leaders from historic cities from around the world.

Our recent training efforts have been concentrated in Malaysia under the Urban Conservation Planning in Southeast Asia project. Working in partnership with Think City and Badan Warisan Malaysia, we have developed and delivered short training courses in urban conservation to planners and other practitioners from the region.
