MOSAIKON

All work occurred among the four MOSAIKON partners and in consultation with representatives from 12 countries in the Mediterranean basin. MOSAIKON activities were jointly managed by the partner organizations, each of which contributed human and/or financial resources, working in collaboration with national authorities and field experts.

While the geographic focus of MOSAIKON was the countries of the Mediterranean basin, the program largely centered on countries in the southern and eastern parts of the region, where needs are the greatest. The target groups for MOSAIKON included:

• Technicians responsible for the conservation and maintenance of mosaics
• Site managers
• Policy and decision-makers

Generally, preference for participation in MOSAIKON's training activities was given to those working for government authorities, or in some cases those in teaching positions to ensure the transmission of new knowledge and skills and to build capacity at the national level.

MOSAIKON was a partnership of the Getty Conservation Institute, the Getty Foundation, the International Centre for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property (ICCROM) in Rome, and the International Committee for the Conservation of Mosaics (ICCM).
