Note: "La France montre à ses trois Enfans le nouveau Ministre, dont la Renommée l'annonce de sa trompette, et lui déssile les Nuages qui les couvraient / ..."--inscribed in the lower margin; "La Reine interessée au bonheur de la France / ..."--quatrain in the lower margin; The anonymous print was possibly engraved by Marie-Anne Croisier, a student of Saint-Aubin, who signed another allegorical print glorifying Necker (de Vinck); The allegorical print in honor of Jacques Necker is related to his appointment to the post of Director-General of Finances and Minister of State of the Kingdom of France on August 26, 1788; A personification of France presents her children to Necker, announced by Fame, while Apollo chases away Envy, Discord, and Vengeance. Above, three winged putti carry the portrait medallions of Marie-Antoinette, Louis XVI, and Sully, minister of Henry IV; Forms part of: Prints of the French Revolution, 1774-ca. 1840 (Special Collections, accn. no.
