Note: The print is related to the decree of August 17, 1793, ordered by the Paris Commune, requiring that titles, medals, and other emblems of distinction be deposited at the municipality. A knight of Saint-Louis gives his medals to the secretary of the municipality who, watched by sans-culottes, draws them in the Register of Equality. A statue of Equality, holding fasces, a scale of justice, and a level, adorns the office; Forms part of: Prints of the French Revolution, 1774-ca. 1840 (Special Collections, accn. no. P980009*).
