Sounds of LA: Los Cenzontles and Los Originarios del Plan

Our Sounds of LA concert series continues with pioneering roots music ensembles from Northern and Central California: Los Cenzontles and Los Originarios del Plan. Whether performing traditional, folk, or original songs, Grammy-nominated Los Cenzontles ("the mockingbirds") is celebrated for capturing the spirit of Mexico's remarkable sonic diversity. They share the stage with Los Originarios del Plan. Masters of the arpa grande–an older, all-string cousin of the mariachi–the quartet is renowned for preserving and promoting music from Michoacán's Tierra Caliente region.
