Join us for a unique series of live readings set among the Getty Center’s Central Garden, featuring poetry inspired by the Getty Research Institute exhibition What They Saw: Historical Photobooks by Women, 1843–1999. Each week, words will float through the landscape, encouraging guests to create their own experiences: rest on a bench, lay on a blanket on the lawn, admire the view, or wander the pathways among the blooming spring plants as poetry vibrates through the air!

  1. Mia Moretti

    Poet & DJ

    Mia Moretti is a DJ, producer, and songwriter known for her DJ sets blending classic, vocal, and gospel house. From her start as a DJ on LA’s Sunset Strip, Moretti has maintained a career as a touring DJ, playing regularly around the world and spending her summers in Ibiza. In 2023, she released her debut EP Tambor, sampling Bullerengue artists from Colombia’s Caribbean coast, and has remixed records for Sia, Kylie Minogue, Zerb, and Sofi Tukker. Between 2020 and 2023, while living back home in Los Angeles, Moretti dove into her personal poetry collection, publishing 4 volumes of poems. The collection, Low Touch Economy: Volume 1-4, was self-published in Los Angeles and pressed by Aardvark Letterpress.

  2. Balam Garcia

    Musician

    Balam Garcia (@balam_garcia) is a Los Angeles-based guitarist, bassist, composer, producer, arranger, and songwriter. He combines groove-based styles such as blues, funk, and soul music with his jazz and classical music training and influences. Born in the state of Veracruz, Mexico and raised in the neighborhoods of Boyle Heights and Highland Park, his work incorporates an eclectic variety of sounds and compositions—spreading positive vibrations through conscious music and his signature “East LA Soul” sound.
