Inspired by the highly successful Picture L.A., this publication contains images by a group of youths who
photographed what they consider to be their city's distinctive landmarks. The images, in combination with quotes from the photographers, evoke ideas that challenge readers' conventional notions of landmarks and, at the same time, invite readers to consider how they are marked by the communities in which they live.
The images from Cape Town provide a visual narrative of this African cityproud, diverse, and full of
energyand prompt a reassessment of the notion that Cape Town is "a piece of Europe that has lost its way."
The book contains a selection of black-and-white prints culled from hundreds taken during the course of the projects, along with short biographies and color images of each of the young photographers.
