Basilico, Gabriele (Italian photographer and architect, 1944-2013)
|
Note: Born 12 August 1944. In 1969, Basilico produced a reportage on Glasgow, Scotland. In 1973, Basilico worked as an architect and photographer for advertising and industry. He decided to become a professional photographer and opened his own studio in Milan. In 1975, Basilico began to concentrate on photographing architecture and urban landscapes. From 1978 to 1982, he produced a photographic document on the industrial architecture of the city of Milan, Italy. In 1982, the city of Naples, Italy, commissioned Basilico to produce a document of the city. In 1984, Basilico was commissioned by La mission photographique de la DATAR to document the northern coast of France. The series was entitled "Le bord de la mer". In 1986, Basilico documented the industrial architecture of Rotterdam, Netherlands. In 1990, Basilico photographed around Barcelona, Spain. In 1991, Basilico photographed in the Val d'Aosta, Italy, and also participated in a photographic mission to document Beirut, Lebanon. |
