Wordt doorgaans in de cartografie gebruikt om de aarde of een ander hemellichaam te projecteren op een plat vlak. Het wordt gekenmerkt door een projectie van een halve bol waarop de parallellen en meridianen zijn weergegeven op een raakvlak, waarbij radialen worden gegenereerd vanuit het punt op het oppervlak van de bol dat tegenover het raakpunt ligt. |
