Curator and art historian Susan Ehrens situates Minor White within the tradition of photographic modernism that flourished in San Francisco after World War II. Drawing on unpublished photographs and correspondence, Ehrens discusses the formative years of White's engagement with photography, including relationships with photographers such as Ansel Adams, Rose Mandel, Dorothea Lange, and Edward Weston.
