Appendix D: Contributors

4.4.1

How to Record Contributors

4.4.1.1

Adding a contributor
Brief and Full Names for contributors are added when the contributor makes their first submission to a Getty Vocabulary. If the contributor contributes to multiple Getty Vocabularies, their Brief and Full Names should be identical in all three databases.

For a list of contributors, see Contributors to the Getty Vocabularies.

4.4.1.2

Contributor ID
A unique numeric code referring to the contributor in a given Vocabulary database. In AAT, TGN, CONA, and IA the range of numbers is 10000000-19999999. In ULAN the range is 2500000000-2599999999. For a given contributor, the last digits should be the same in both schemes. Implementors note: There are a handful of exceptions where the IDs more greatly differ between Vocabularies.

  • Example

  • Brief Name: Avery
  • Full Name: Avery Index to Architectural Periodicals, Columbia University (New York, New York)
  • ULAN contrib ID: 2500000008
  • AAT,TGN,ULAN,CONA,IA contrib ID: 10000008

4.4.1.3

Brief Name
Brief appellation or initials by which the contributing institution is noted in Getty Vocabulary records. Where possible, choose initials, a truncated name, or an acronym that the contributing institution commonly uses to refer to itself.

4.4.1.4

Full Name
A full, official name for the contributing institution. For the Full Name, record the name commonly used by the contributing institution to refer to itself.
