Documenting artistic production at influential Los Angeles print workshop and publisher Gemini G.E.L. (Graphic Editions Limited), the Sidney B. Felsen Photography Archive comprises materials related to the 53 artists who created innovative work there, including Vija Celmins, Tacita Dean, Jasper Johns, Ellsworth Kelly, Roy Lichtenstein, Claes Oldenburg, Robert Rauschenberg, and Richard Serra.

Founded as a printing press for special editions in 1966, Gemini G.E.L. came to prominence under the leadership of Sidney B. Felsen, its visionary director who systematically photographed artist production at the workshop, and master printmaker Kenneth Tyler.

Donated to the Getty Research Institute by photographer Jack Shear, the archive of original slides, negatives, and digital prints and files strengthens the Research Institute's photography holdings related to the vibrant Los Angeles art scene during the late 20th and early 21st centuries.
