Descriptive Note Text: The Futurist ideals were dynamism, progress, and motion in the new machine age. In this sculpture, the rush of air displaced by its forward movement is represented as space in visible extensions sprouting like wings from the figure's limbs. The primary subject is not the nude, but movement itself. According to Boccioni, an invisible fourth dimension existed as a higher realm of existence where space and time merged. Free text
