A Kingdom of Images: French Prints in the Age of Louis XIV, 1660–1715

Through September 6, 2015 | The Getty Center
Louis XIV transformed Paris into a powerhouse of print production. During the Sun King's reign, French engravers and etchers created monumental city views, architectural elevations, exquisite fashion plates, and grand royal portraits. Engraver Antoine Trouvain's Third Apartment, which features the king playing billiards with his brother and other select members of the court, is just one of nearly 100 prints on view.

Curators lead gallery tours Thursdays at 2:00 p.m. through September 3, 2015.
