Objects in Motion in the Early Modern World
The circulation of objects across regions and cultures from 1500 to 1800, including the diplomatic exchange of gifts among the Ottoman Empire, Europe, and South Asia, led to new meanings, uses, and interpretations for many types of goods. This conference is cosponsored by the Getty Research Institute and the USC-Huntington Early Modern Studies Institute.

Overdrive: L.A. Constructs the Future, 1940–1990
More than twenty videos reveal the complex history of Los Angeles's architectural evolution through archival footage and animations, as well as oral history interviews with Los Angeles–based urban planners, architects, and architectural photographers like Julius Shulman. Pacific Standard Time Initiative Wins Award for Excellence
The Getty received the International Association of Art Critics (AICA-USA) Special Award for its role in organizing Pacific Standard Time: Art in L.A. 1945–1980, a collaboration that included over 60 separate exhibitions and institutions. Andrew Perchuk, deputy director of the Getty Research Institute, and Joan Weinstein, deputy director of the Getty Foundation, accepted the AICA-USA award in New York City in early April.

10,000 New Volumes Now Available through the Getty Research Portal™
Four thousand new records, which represent approximately 10,000 new volumes, were recently added to the Getty Research Portal™, the GRI's online search gateway for digitized art history texts in the public domain. This represents a nearly 50% increase in size from the Portal's launch nearly ten months ago. Contributions came from the GRI, the Heidelberg University Library, the Institut national d'histoire de l'art, and the Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florence, among others.

International Design Conference in Aspen
Founded in 1951, the International Design Conference in Aspen (IDCA) appropriated Bauhaus philosophy, promoting a close collaboration between modern art, design, and commerce. Early conference topics included "Ideas on the Future of Man and Design" (1956) and "Design and Human Values" (1957). The records of the IDCA include office files and correspondence, printed conference materials, photographs, posters, and audio and video recordings.
