The following resources from the Special Collections of the Research Library at the Getty Research Institute have been digitized in conjunction with the exhibition.

The Dusseldorf Catalogue
Nicolas de Pigage and Christian von Mechel, La galerie électorale de Dusseldorff; ou, Catalogue raisonné et figuré de ses tableaux (Basel, 1778). 870670

La Galerie électorale de Dusseldorff, including Preparatory drawings and proofs
The Getty Research Institute, Los Angeles, 870670

The Düsseldorf catalogue archive consists of four boxes of archival material, including preparatory drawings of individual paintings in the Düsseldorf collection, wall elevations showing the display after 1763, and proof prints for the catalogue, all of which were used to produce La galerie électorale de Dusseldorff; ou, Catalogue raisonné de ses tableaux... in 1778. The archive contains the following materials:

  • Inventory list, 870670 Box 1, part 1
  • Wall elevations, bound 870670 Box 1, part 2
  • Loose sheets with preparatory drawings, 870670 Box 1, part 3
  • Leather-bound album of drawings, 870670 Box 2
  • Drawings and proof prints, 870670 Box 4
  • La galerie électorale de Dusseldorff; ou, Catalogue raisonné de ses tableaux... , 1778, 870670 Box 3

La galerie électorale de Dusseldorff; ou, Catalogue raisonné de ses tableaux..., 1781
The Getty Research Institute, Los Angeles, 93-B1914
This small-format, 1781 edition of the Düsseldorf catalogue features the full catalogue texts, but not the prints of the wall elevations. It served as a more affordable, handy guide to the Düsseldorf gallery than the 1778 edition.

Colins, François-Louis. Catalogue des tableaux qui se trouvent dans les galleries du Palais de S. A. S. E. Palatine, a Dusseldorff, ca. 1755.
The Getty Research Institute, Los Angeles, 90-B5853
François-Louis Colins's catalogue provides a brief inventory of all the paintings in the Düsseldorf gallery. Cataloguing the individual paintings by room, it provides some insight to how the paintings were ordered before Krahe's reinstallation in 1763.
