Bill Viola's new video works give an intimate look at emotions expressed in silence and opened up
by slow motion. Reflecting his fascination with older European devotional paintings, The Passions
use modern technology to explore the power and complexity of emotions, which have captivated Eastern and
Western artists, mystics, and philosophers for centuries.
Organized by the J. Paul Getty Museum, the exhibition will travel to the National Gallery in London and the
Munich State Paintings Collection.
