Barbara G. Fleischman Steps Down from Board of Trustees of the J. Paul Getty Trust

January 25, 2006

LOS ANGELES—The Board of Trustees of the J. Paul Getty Trust announced today that it has accepted the resignation of board member Barbara G. Fleischman, who has been a member of the board since 2000.

Ms. Fleischman said, "It has been my pleasure to work with the gifted and dedicated people in the Research and Conservation Institutes, the Getty Foundation and the Museum elements of the Getty Trust.  Their work is splendid and significant, and I salute them."

In accepting her resignation, the board commended Ms. Fleischman for her longstanding support of the J. Paul Getty Trust, and for the substantial contributions she and her late husband Lawrence have made to the J. Paul Getty Museum.

"Barbara Fleischman's contributions in time and energy to this institution have been significant and selfless. She and her late husband Lawrence have been generous and tireless in their support from the very beginning of their association with the Getty," said John Biggs, chairman of the board of trustees.
