The Getty Villa, the original location of the J. Paul Getty Museum, has undergone a major renovation and will open with a new mission as an educational center and museum dedicated to the arts and cultures of ancient Greece, Rome, and Etruria.

Books of hours were the bestsellers of the Middle Ages and Renaissance. Nearly 60 of these opulent prayer books have come to Los Angeles for the first time in this exhibition drawn from the collection of The Pierpont Morgan Library in New York.

The companion exhibition A Masterpiece Reconstructed: The Hours of Louis XII reunites surviving text and illuminated images from one the most beautiful French books ever made.

Julius Shulman's photographs celebrate the elegant geometry of modern architecture and the glamour of the California dream.

Drawn from the newly acquired Julius Shulman photography archive in the special collections of the Research Library at the Getty Research Institute, this exhibition presents dramatic photographs of buildings by pioneering modern architects, as well as images of L.A.'s unique urban landscape—movie palaces, gas stations, shopping malls.

Curator, scholar, nonconformist—Walter Hopps, who died recently, helped establish the Los Angeles art scene and went on to become perhaps the most influential figure in the postwar American art world.

At this event, arts professionals, scholars, and conservators, including artists James Rosenquist, Ed Ruscha, and Robert Williams, will come together for an evening to celebrate Hopps and his legacy.
