In this free workshop, teachers explore the human figure through bronze sculpture in connection with the traveling exhibition Power and Pathos: Bronze Sculpture of the Hellenistic World. Participants will hear from curators and museum educators, join in discussions in the galleries, and participate in hands-on art activities. This workshop addresses Common Core English Language Arts standards for grades 3–12.

In this free workshop, teachers focus on travel drawings and watercolors depicting the ancient world in connection with the exhibition Greece’s Enchanting Landscape: Watercolors by Edward Dodwell and Simone Pomardi at the Getty Villa. Participants will hear from curators and museum educators, join in discussions in the galleries, and participate in hands-on activities. Teachers will receive materials for use in the classroom. This workshop addresses Common Core English Language Arts standards for grades K–12.

The Institute of East Asian Studies at UC Berkeley, UCLA Confucius Institute, San Mateo County Office of Education and Shanghai Jiao Tong University are pleased to announce the 2016 Fulbright-Hays Group Projects Abroad Summer Institute on China. With pre-travel sessions being hosted by the UCLA Confucius Institute, the program will begin in Los Angeles before leaving for China. The theme “Landscape and Perspective” will focus on Dunhuang and the Mogao Caves located along the Silk Road, and the focus of a long-term Getty Conservation Institute collaboration with the Dunhuang Academy to preserve this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Summer Institute teachers will also examine other evidence of cross cultural landscapes found in Shanghai, Suzhou, Xi'an and Beijing. The dates of the program are June 13 - July 16, 2016. Teachers will also participate in a Teachers Workshop in August 2016 at the Getty Center during the exhibition Cave Temples of Dunhuang: Buddhist Art on China's Silk Road. This program is open to California middle and high school full-time classroom teachers.
