This bibliography offers professionals and those responsible for the preservation and conservation of wooden altarpieces an eminently practical working tool for supporting the study and research required for any kind of intervention on these assets. The conservation-restoration field encompasses very different activities which demand that this research be carried out from many different viewpoints, from that of art history to understanding the cultural realm which the assets are a part of. Without questioning the importance of all these areas of research, this bibliography has intentionally assumed an approach that focuses on wooden altarpieces from different levels: the materials and techniques used for making them and the technology demanded by research done on them and for their conservation-restoration.
