Team member Jeffrey Maish, conservator of antiquities at the J. Paul Getty Museum, led an effort to conduct a thorough visual examination of the sherds, using 3-D microscopy to catalog the shape and topography of the various components of the painted gloss decorations (e.g., background washes, painted outlines, fine detail lines, incised lines).
