Dust on surface of wall painting Conservation and Management of the Tomb of Tutankhamen

Dust on the surface of the paintings. Because of the irregular surface topography, a blanket of dust covers the paintings. In the environment of the Valley of the Kings heavy dust deposition on the painted surface is a serious problem. Dust is brought into the tomb by visitors and natural ventilation. The rate and effects of dust accumulation on the paintings is being investigated as are methods to reduce dust entry into the tomb. Photo: Lori Wong
