Note: Taken as part of Edward S. Curtis's forty volume work, "The North American Indian," comprised of photos of Native North Americans and First Nations individuals from 1907 to 1930. This photo is from volume 15, dedicated to cataloging Shoshoni, Washoe, Kumeyaay, and other California Native communities. This photo depicts a Cahuilla woman in Andreas Canyon, near the present-day city of Palm Springs, California.
