Interior of Mr. Hooker's House, Sichimovi (platinum print; (A. C. Vroman, American photograpger, 1856-1916); 1902; J. Paul Getty Museum (Los Angeles, Los Angeles county, Calif...; 84.XM.472.2)
Note: Taken by A.C. Vroman, a photographer well-known for his images of Southwestern Indigenous people, particularly the Hopi. Portrays the interior of a home in Sichomovi, Arizona, one of three major Hopi towns on First Mesa. The focus on the interior, which include katsina dolls on either side of the doorway and basketry hanging from the rafters, emphasize Vroman's desire to capture a categorical view of Hopi culture and society. After photographing religious kiva ceremonies, Vroman's relationship with Hopi townspeople ceased.
