Leatherlips (outdoor sculpture; Ralph Helmick (American sculptor, active late 20th century); 1990; Dublin (Franklin, Ohio, United States, North and Central Ame...)
Note: Memorial sculpture to Leatherlips, a Wyandot Indian chief. Located in Scioto Park in Dublin, Ohio and is the first Dublin Arts in Public Places public work. The sculpture is made of Native Ohio limestone. The head is a composite structure of various sizes of native limestone stacked and mortared. The sculpture is open on the top and has stacked stones extending back along its sides, creating a small enclosure that enables visitors a view of the river, the sunset and the amphitheater. Local history relates that Chief Leatherlips was executed by fellow tribesman at a location very near Scioto Park.
