Uffington white horse (geoglyph; unknown ; between 1200 and 800 BCE)
Note: Located high on an escarpment of the Berkshire Downs below Whitehorse Hill, a mile and a half south of the village of Uffington, Uffington White Horse is the oldest of the horse hill figures that exist in Wiltshire and one of only four that faces right. It was previosly believed to have been from the Iron Age, but recently improved techniques in dating soil, date it from the Bronze Age. The exact meaning of the horse is unknown, but it may have been the symbol of a local tribe. It has also been suggested that the figure may be a fertility symbol honoring the British horse-goddess Rhiannon.
