Note: The Physical Impossibility of Death in the Mind of Someone Living is a large installation piece created by "Young British Artists" (or YBA) member Damien Hirst in 1991. It consists of a large tiger shark preserved in formaldehyde in a vitrine. The work was commissioned by Charles Saatchi in 1991 who sold it in 2004, to Steven A. Cohen for an undisclosed amount, estimated to be anywhere from 8-12 million. When the original specimen began to decompose, it was replaced with a new specimen in 2006. The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City displayed the work from 2007 to 2010. It is considered the iconic work of YBA movement.
