Self (sculpture (visual works); Marc Quinn (British sculptor, born 1964); 1991)

Note: "Self" from 1991 was the first of several self portraits Quinn has created out of his own blood. Eight pints of blood (the average amount in the human body), were extracted over an eight month period of time, poured into a mold of the artist's head, frozen, and then displayed in a refrigeration unit.
