Note: The piece is a nude bust of an unbearded older man with a slightly receding hairline whose head is turned to the proper left. The inscription across the front of the bust, L. LICINIVS NEPOS / QVI HANC CASVLAM / FECIT identifies the sitter as L. Licinius Nepos, a person also known from an early Imperial funerary inscription in Rome. The back of the head was made as a separate piece and attached with dowels; it is now missing.
