Portrait Head of Agrippina the Younger (sculpture (visual works); Unknown Roman (Roman Artist); about 50; J. Paul Getty Museum at the Getty Villa (Malibu, Los Angeles...; 70.AA.101)
Note: This is an idealized portrait of Agrippina the Younger, wife of the Emperor Claudius and mother of the Emperor Nero. Her hair is comprised of drilled curls in the front, creating chiaroscuro; it parts in the middle on the top of her head. The back of her hair is schematically rendered as flat waves; behind her ears, it is gathered into a knot at the nape of her neck.
