Saint Salvator's College Chapel (collegiate church; unknown architect, College Chapel founded by James Kennedy (...; founded 1450, constructed 1450...; Saint Andrews (Fife, Scotland, United Kingdom, Europe, World...)
Note: An example of late Scottish Gothic architecture, this chapel consists of a large square tower, buttressed nave, 3-sided apse, vestry and cloister. An immense barrel vault and stone-slab roof supported by buttresses originally crowned the structure; however, this was replaced in the eighteenth century by a lighter covering of wood and slate. The south wall is divided into seven bays by these buttresses, which continue around the apse at the east end to create a total of ten bays. The north wall is a solid mass of masonry. The prominent tower, reminiscent of the tower at Saint Rule's Church, has a stone spire added during the mid-sixteenth century. The chapel also includes a several World War II memorials for World War II.
