Note: The Abbey of San Gregorio was founded in the 9th century, became a Benedictine abbey in the 13th century, and in the mid-15th century, it was rebuilt to the current appearance under design by Antonio da Cremona. In 1527, Theatine clerics took refuge in the abbey to escape the sack of Rome. Sale of the property buildings began in 1773, and with no eclesiastical protection, it fell into decline.
