pot (pot (container); unknown Thai; ca. 3000 BCE; Rijksmuseum (Amsterdam, North Holland, Netherlands); AK-MAK-1237; RM001.collect.2209)
Note: This large earthenware jar is decorated with a painted pattern of curved lines and curls. The decoration has been painted by a supple hand, and is not quite symmetrical. The pot was found in the north-east of Thailand. Excavations made during the 1970s revealed the remains of a prehistoric culture at this site. This culture is known as Ban Chiang after the village where most of the remains were found.
