Note: Beurnonville and four commissaries were sent to the front by the National Convention to inquire into the conduct of Dumouriez who, after facing several defeats in Belgium against the Austrians, had concluded an armistice with them. Dumouriez handed Beurnonville over to the Austrians; " ... Minister of the War-Office and the four Depu- / ties Bancal, Quinette, Camus, and Lamarque, / ... / ... the Daughter of Louis the XVI."--two columns of letters in English and French in the lower margin; Printmaker from Bassano, Italy; The print shows French General Dumouriez ordering the arrest of the Minister of War, Pierre Riel, Count de Beurnonville, on April 2, 1793; Forms part of: Prints of the French Revolution, 1774-ca. 1840 (Special Collections, accn. no.
