Note: "Cloquet del."--in the lower left; "le François scripsit"--in the lower center; "43"--in upper right corner; Announced in Le Moniteur, December 20, 1790 and the Journal de Paris, January 24, 1791; A bird's-eye view of the festival of the Federation, celebrated at the Champ-de-Mars in Paris on July 14, 1790, is seen from above Chaillot, extending from the temporary bridge over the Seine to the École royale militaire; In the upper left hand corner, a figure of Fame sounds a trumpet from which a banner hangs, adorned with a plan of the Champ-de-Mars. A Spirit carries a lictor's fasces topped with a liberty cap; Forms part of: Prints of the French Revolution, 1774-ca. 1840 (Special Collections, accn. no. P980009*).
