Note: The print depicts the plan of the Vatican Palace designed for the conclave that was summoned upon the death of Pope Clement XIII, and which elected Cardinal Giovanni Vincenzo Antonio Ganganelli as Pope Clement XIV on 18 May 1769; Nine vignettes of the ceremonies and rituals held during the papal election are arranged around the plan. Faintly visible inscriptions describe these vignettes; Watermark: fleur-de-lys within double circle, topped by star (Heawood 1638); Forms part of the Collection of festival prints, 1530-1887 (Special Collections accn. no.
