Note: Inscription in lower center: Cum privilegijs, Regis Christianissimi, Principum Belgarum, & Ordinum Batauiae; Lucas Emil Vorsterman, or Lucas Vorsterman the Elder, an engraver, draftsman and publisher from Bommel, worked in Antwerp and in England; A reproductive print after the altarpiece that Peter Paul Rubens painted for the Church of the Capuchins in Cologne (Cologne, Wallraf-Richartz-Museum, Inv. 1043). A dedication by Rubens is addressed to the brothers Louis and Roger Clarisse in the plate's lower margin; Although the print bears the date 1620, it appears to have been engraved prior to this year (cf. Bodart). The drawing used as model for the print (Louvre, Inv. 20312) has been attributed to several artists, including Vorsterman, van Dyck, and Vey. Publication: Ano 1620.
