Villa Benedetta (villa; Plautilla Bricci (Italian architect and painter, 1616-after1...; construction 1663-1665)
Note: Elpidio Benedetti built a villa for himself outside Porta S Pancrazio on the Janiculum Hill, called the Villa Benedetti or ‘del Vascello’. According to Benedetti, the architect was Basilio Bricci (1621-1892), assisted by his sister, but documentation reveals that Plautilla Bricci was responsible for the design.The building was completed ca.1665, but was destroyed in the Siege of Rome, 1849. Benedetti published an illustrated account of the villa's construction under the assumed name of Matteo Mayer.
