Note: The architects Gian Giacomo Monti and Baldassare Bianchi designed the floats and the theatre, while Girolamo Graziani wrote the verses and is credited with the conception of the festival. Impressions of the etchings were issued with Il Trionfo della virtv festa d'armi a cavallo ... (In Modana : Nella stamperia di Bartolomeo Soliani stampator ducale..., s.d.); Prints [2-7] are oblong: ca. 15.2 x 38.7 cm; Painter at the Este court in Modena; The prints depict the tournament Trionfo della virtù enacting the battle between the Vices and Virtues performed in Modena in 1660 in celebration of the birth of Prince Francesco II d'Este; Prints [1-7] show floats and chariots drawn by dragons and exotic or mythical animals, personifying the Vices and Virtues. Prints [8-16] depict tournaments and duels between cavaliers or men on foot involving the use of different arms, such as lances, clubs or pistols; Forms part of the Collection of festival prints, 1530-1887 (Special Collections accn. no. P910002**).
