Note: The Pont Neuf of “New Bridge," is the oldest standing bridge across the river Seine in Paris, France. Composed of two separate spans, one of its five arches joins the left bank to the Île de la Cité, the island in the middle of the river, while another one its seven arches joins the island to the right bank. Construction was approved by Henry III in 1578, opened to traffic in 1604, and completed in July 1606. It was inaugurated by Henri IV in 1607. In 1985, after years of negotiations with the mayor of Paris, the art duo Christo and Jeanne-Claude wrapped the bridge in 450,000 square feet (41,800 square meters) of woven polyamide fabric.
