Note: The festivities in honor of Pavel Petrovich and Marīi︠a︡ Feodorovna née Sophia Dorothea of Württemberg, traveling anonymously under the name of the counts of the North, were directed by Francesco Pesaro, procurator of San Marco, and Zan Piero Grimani, savio di Terraferma; Venetian engraver and etcher from Belluno; The print depicts a temporary triumphal arch designed by the architect Antonio Codognato, erected on January 24, 1782 in Piazza San Marco in Venice in celebration of the visit of Prince Pavel Petrovich and Princess-consort Marīi︠a︡ Feodorovna; The arch, adorned with four allegorical statues and topped by a trophy, stands before the Basilica of San Marco. Masked figures rush through the arch toward the center of the square, while onlookers sit in the stands built along the perimeter of the square; Forms part of the Collection of festival prints, 1530-1887 (Special Collections accn. no.
