Note: The Swedish architect Carl Hårleman served as mentor to the printmaker Jean Eric Rehn, providing him a scholarship to practice engraving in Paris in 1740, and later securing him a position at the Manufakturkontor in Stockholm; Swedish architect, designer, draftsman, and etcher; The print shows the funeral decorations designed by Carl Hårleman for the obsequies of Queen Ulrika Eleonora of Sweden, consort of Frederick I, who died on 24 November 1741; The decorations adorn a circular hall in the royal palace in Stockholm. Candles illuminate the queen's bed of state, a coffin crowned by a baldachin. Members of the court stand or sit along the perimeter of the hall; Forms part of the Collection of festival prints, 1530-1887 (Special Collections accn. no. P910002**). Publication: [1741].
