Note: From the series titled Passio, mors et resurrectio, Dn. Nostri Iesu Christi ..., also known at The Passion of Christ. The series, comprised of a title plate and 20 numbered prints, was engraved by Adriaen Collaert, Jan II Collaert, Theodoor Galle, Crispijn de Passe and Johannes Wierix. It was dedicated to Cardinal Alessandro Ottaviano de' Medici, who became cardinal in 1583, and for whom Stradanus worked as a painter in 1584-7 in the Palazzo della Gherardesca, Florence; "Ioannes Stradanus inventor"--lower left; "Crispianus de Pas scalpsit. / Philippus Galle excudit"--lower center; Title from The New Hollstein (Stradanus), v. 18, p.
