Note: Carlo Rainaldi, son of the architect Girolamo Rainaldi, designed several churches and palaces in Rome, such as the Church of Sant'Agnese in Agone, as well as "apparati" for festivities and papal elections; Giacinto Gigli (1594-1671) described the feast in his Diario romano (1608-1670) (ed. by Giuseppe Ricciotti, Rome : Tumminelli, 1958, pp. 356-357); Dominique Barrière, a draftsman, engraver and etcher from Marseille, was documented in Rome from 1640 when he issued a print in Famiano Strada's De bello Belgico. He engraved prints after the landscape painter Claude Lorrain, as well as views and monuments of Rome; The print depicts the feast of the Resurrection in Piazza Navona, Rome, celebrated by the compagnia della Resurrezione di San Giacomo degli Spagnoli on April 17, 1650; The Holy Sacrament is carried in a procession, while fireworks explode from two ephemeral obelisks and from the towers of palaces. The palaces, churches and monuments lining the piazza are numbered from 1 to 11 and listed in the captions in the plate's lower margin. The processions, groups of musicians and "apparati" dedicated to the reigns of Castile, Aragon and Lusitania are numbered A to H and described in the captions; Forms part of the Collection of festival prints, 1530-1887 (Special Collections accn. no.
