Note: Alessandro Macchia described the iconography and inscriptions of the arch in: Relatione del viaggio fatto dalla s. d. s. pp. Leone XI. nel pigliare il possesso a San Giovanni Laterano ... (In Roma : Appresso Guglielmo Facciotto, 1605); The print depicts the triumphal arch designed by Donato Frosini on the occasion of Pope Leo XI's taking possession of the Basilica of San Giovanni in Laterano on April 17, 1605; A dedication to the pope by Pietro Strozzi is printed in the plate's lower margin. An inscription describes the iconography of the arch with scenes on the diplomatic missions of Alessandro Ottaviano De' Medici at the court of Henri IV of France; Forms part of the Collection of festival prints, 1530-1887 (Special Collections accn. no. P910002**).
